Kirstjen Nielsen, Homeland Security Secretary, had to abruptly cancel her meal at a Mexican restaurant in Washington after her presence angered local crowds to the point of a massive protest inside.

Many pointed out the apparent hypocrisy in the act of visiting a Mexican restaurant in light of recent events that Homeland Security has been involved in.

Indeed, the topic of immigration is quite a heated one nationwide, and it is surprising that Nielsen did not realize the potential implications of her actions.

However, she did seem worried by the response she had provoked and made sure to leave the establishment as quickly as possible.

Some commenters are wondering if it was not a form of provocation designed to get an over-the-top reaction from the opposition and use that energy to galvanize Donald Trump‘s base that is unsure about the zero-tolerance policy.

The group of protesters tried to make their position as clear as possible, including by playing recordings of crying children.

The situation on the border is still extremely confusing and has been generating massive controversy within the country.

There does not seem to be a resolution in sight anytime soon, and in fact, things are apparently getting worse, with occasional reports of violence from within the camps and their surrounding areas.

Mr. Trump did sign an executive order to try to calm things down, but critics say it does not go far enough in addressing the problem.

The secretary herself has so far refrained from commenting on the situation, but a spokesman for the organization wanted to reassure citizens that their concerns are not going unheard and that everyone within Homeland Security shares the families’ worries about what is going on at the border right now.

As can be expected, this has so far done very little to calm down the voices of negativity, and if anything, it looks like things might get even more complicated not too far from now.
