While many are currently celebrating the new found fame of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her rapid rise on the political scene, it looks like some old acquaintances of hers are somewhat disappointed that she was the one to make it there.

The person in question is reportedly a former co-worker of Ocasio-Cortez from her time at Flats Fix, a Mexican restaurant in New York, and they had worked together for about four years.

The waitress specifically recalled one incident that left a bad taste in her mouth, when a busy night at the bar resulted in a $560 tip pool.

Rather than offering to split the money evenly, however, Ocasio-Cortez only gave her colleague $50.

Bringing up the issue with management resulted in an increase to $100, and the person claims that the damage had already been done and her impression of Ocasio-Cortez had been tarnished forever.

Ocasio-Cortez herself has not responded to the accusations so far, although we do not expect her to address the situation in any way, considering how low-key it is in the context of her current achievements.

It would also be a smart move to just ignore the claims and move on for someone in her position, although one never knows when a person might decide to open up in an unusual way.

The incident has already stirred up some controversy on the Internet, with people somewhat divided over whose side to take, although it is possible that this division is more based on political beliefs rather than reactions towards this particular report. It is unlikely that these sentiments are going to die down soon too.

In a Democratic Party still reeling from the defeat in the 2016 presidential election, Ocasio-Cortez, 28, presents qualities that could solve some of its problems. A few experts say she is Bernie Sanders politically with the charisma and boldness of former President Barack Obama.

She will turn 35 in October 2024, enough for her to land a spot on the ticket if need be.
