After news of XXXTentacion’s death broke out, some reports were heavily focused on the rapper’s past and the way he has allegedly treated his ex-girlfriend.
Many of the stories sounded quite heavy and painted the deceased rapper in a harsh and less favorable light.
However, Geneva Ayala, the ex-girlfriend in question, seems anything but happy about the fact that the rap star has been shot.
In a short, but succinct statement, she asked people to leave her alone and claimed that she has lost someone “close” to her.
This was shared in a Twitter post, followed by her pointing out that nobody seemed to care that much about her several months ago when the actual violent incidents took place.
There was, in fact, an ongoing legal dispute between the two, and the rapper was still awaiting trial for the whole ordeal.
There is some minor speculation that his death may have had something to do with his violent past, but this does not seem to be rooted in any real facts so far.
Some fans have still pointed out that they do not consider it an outlandish possibility though.

Indeed, opinions about XXXTentacion are quite divided even after his death. In fact, it seems like the tragic incident made that divide even greater and gave way to some heated arguments between commenters on social media.
And, perhaps unsurprisingly, it did not take long for the memes to start pouring in as well, which many have described as distasteful.
However, it is clear that not much can be done to stop this kind of behavior among the public.

On Wednesday night, police in Florida arrested a suspect possibly linked to the shooting death of the young hip-hop star.
Dedrick Devonshay Williams, 22, is charged with first-degree murder without premeditation.
This is not Williams’ first run-in with the law (grand theft auto and domestic violence among other felonies).
XXXTentacion reportedly went to a bank before the fatal encounter with his killer.
