While Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were set to return gifts they received for their royal wedding in the worth of millions, they are far from left with nothing.

According to various sources, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will receive a very special present from the Queen herself: a York Cottage which is part of the Sandringham estate.

The Sandringham House is part of the private estates of the Queen, and it was passed on to her by King George VI, her father, in 1952.

The house comes with 20,000 acres of land in Norfolk, and it was built for Edward VII back in 1862 when he was still the Prince of Wales. Since then, the estate has been a property of the Royal Family.

The York Cottage was once given to King George V, while he was still the Duke of York, by his father King Edward VII as a present for his marriage to the future Queen Mary.

Currently, the cottage is being used to house estate staff or from time to time, for holiday accommodation. The residency has often been described as “three Merrie England pubs joined together.”

It is common knowledge that the Sandringham House is one of the Queen’s favorite residencies, a fact that only can raise the value of the generous gift.

Besides being gifted the York Cottage, it has commonly been assumed that Prince Harry and Meghan are owners of two other estates as well, the first being the Nottingham Cottage at Kensington Palace and the second a home in the Cotswolds.

The Queen seems to be very fond of the former Suits actress, and she has been treating her with a considerable amount of kindness.

It was revealed this week that the American philanthropist is set to travel on her first solo royal appearance on Queen Elizabeth II’s train.

Prince William, Prince Harry, and Kate Middleton have never been invited on board.
