Prince William Blasts Space Race Pushed By Billionaires Like Jeff Bezos

Prince William usually avoids letting his personal feelings known, especially when it comes to public affairs.

With his brother, Prince Harry, and his sister-in-law, Meghan Markle, becoming real activists after leaving their royal duties, Kate Middleton‘s husband is letting his guard down a bit.

Prince William says billionaires should focus on saving Earth

Prince William is going after billionaires who have entered the space race. The timing of his remarks is interesting, to say the least.

Prince William opted to address the issue the same week Amazon founder Jeff Bezos was able to send 90-year-old Star Trek actor William Shatner into space.

The Duke of Cambridge believes it would be more helpful to focus on improving the planet instead of looking for a way out for the future in case things do not improve here in terms of climate change.

The father of three believes that the planet needs to be repaired, and those brilliant minds can play a huge in reaching this goal.

While Prince William did not slam space tourism directly, he seriously hinted that time and resources would be better spent elsewhere.

Is Prince William going after Jeff Bezos, Richard Branson, and Elon Musk?

Bezos is not the only billionaire trying to win the space race. Richard Branson and Elon Musk are also competing.

He spoke to Adam Fleming from BBC during an interview at Kensington Palace and stated: “We need some of the world’s greatest brains and minds fixed on trying to repair this planet, not trying to find the next place to go and live.”

The prince continued: “I think that ultimately is what sold it for me – that really is quite crucial to be focusing on this [planet] rather than giving up and heading out into space to try and think of solutions for the future.”

Prince William reveals why he wants to tackle climate change

Prince William has revealed that saving the planet is an important issue for his family. This started with his grandfather, the late Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, who inspired his father, Charles, Prince of Wales, to talk about climate change.

Prince Charles had a similar effect on him. However, he hopes that Prince George will not have to be talking about the state of the planet in 30 years.

For Prince William, this would be a total disaster, and he added: “And you know, for me, it would be an absolute disaster if George is sat here talking to you or your successor, Adam, you know in like 30 years’ time, whatever, still saying the same thing because by then we will be too late.”

Prince William and Kate Middleton will reveal the Earthshot Prize winners on October 17. They will reward five individuals with solutions to help the environment.
