Charges have been dropped against a Goldsboro, North Carolina woman named Tammie Hedges who was arrested for sheltering animals during Hurricane Florence. She is the founder of Crazy’s Claws N Paws animal rescue.

Wayne County District Attorney Matthew Delbridge explained his decision by saying it is time to move forward and not focus on distractions. Although, he still believes that she should have handled the situation differently. So, how did things get there?

“No good deed goes unpunished” tends to prove itself right now and then, and Hurricane Florence has spawned yet another story with a similar undertone.

Hedges was charged with practicing veterinary medicine without a valid license, for the act of taking in dozens of animals that had been abandoned during Hurricane Florence.

Hedges shared her side of the story by claiming that she saw a need to help the poor animals out, and she had gathered a group of people to do something about the matter.

The only intention they had was to provide a safe, dry space for the animals to take shelter from the massive hurricane.

However, the woman also reportedly gave several different types of medication to the animals, including amoxicillin and a topical antibiotic.

This is at least partly the reason for her legal trouble, according to reports, and authorities were primarily concerned about the fact that she had been practicing veterinary medicine without a valid license.

The situation was still unfolding, but it had already generated a lot of public outrage regarding the decision of local authorities.

Many had expressed their disappointment over the handling of the case, claiming that officials should probably be spending their resources prosecuting other people instead of someone who is just trying to help out.

According to people in the area, the situation around Florence already has many residents on edge and it does not look like responding in such a manner to something seemingly innocent is helping at all, and if anything, it seems to be contributing to the tension at the moment.
