Actress Mira Sorvino has decided to speak truthfully about the real state of Hollywood with regards to sexual misconduct.

The Oscar winner appeared on the HFPA In Conversation podcast on Wednesday and spoke with a representative of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.

Sorvino, who is known for being an avid supporter of the #MeToo movement, opened up and talked about what she had to endure during her work in the film industry.

The 50-year-old actress shared that later in life, she came to the conclusion that she had been sexually harassed by a casting director at the age of 16 while doing one of her first auditions ever.

According to Sorvino, the realization of what happened back then came to her when she was reminiscing about the early stages of her career.

The actress was not shy to give details about the harassment she had suffered. She claimed that the casting director tied her to a chair, hurt her arm, and gagged her.

At first, Sorvino thought it was just a way to scare her because she had to pretend to be horrified for the role.

However, apparently, the casting director went on with his deed and put a condom in Sorvino’s mouth.

The actress explained that this audition taught her a lesson about the ugly side of the acting profession and also added that the young and innocent are not supposed to have to question anything.

The star from Mighty Aphrodite stated that this was not the only time she was sexually harassed throughout her career.

Sorvino confessed that it was a common thing for directors or recruiting personnel to take advantage of young actresses in exchange for giving them roles.

She stated, “Directors pressuring you to have relationships with them, people casting you saying if you have a sexual relationship with them they’ll give you the part.”

The award-winning talent also added: “That has happened to me several times… I’ve had friends who were told, ‘You’re going to absolutely have to have sex with all kinds of people to advance your career.’”

The #meToo movement has changed Hollywood forever.
