Neil Patrick Harris said his Gone Girl scenes were weird. Talking to Conan O’Brien, Harris has revealed that it was rather strange for him to film sex scenes with actress Rosamund Pike because they are both married.

On Thursday, Neil Patrick Harris opened up about those raunchy sex scenes in his new movie Gone Girl with actress Rosamund Pike.

The How I Met Your Mother star who will host the Academy Awards on February 22, explained that it took several hours of practice to get the scenes right.

Harris said both he and Pike were uncomfortable doing the sexy scenes because they are married to other people. The father of two said:

“Honestly, I was more concerned about Rosamund Pike – I just wanted to make sure that – in her own state of disrobedness – she felt comfortable and didn’t feel weird.”

Mr Neil Patrick Harris said it did not bother him to show his butt, but he warmed the director of Gone Girl, David Fincher not to film his private parts. Harris jokingly said:

“So you’re conscious of that. You’re like, fine if you see my butt and stuff like that, but don’t get the camera too low. There were moments it was disarming – your butt is out there. There’s the camera crew and that’s your butt.”

Rosamund Pike sat down with Seth Meyers earlier this month, where she confirmed that it was a very odd experience filming the scenes with Neil Patrick Harris. The 35-year-old actress said:

“Fincher asked me and Harris to rehearse this scene for two hours, alone, on an empty soundstage just by ourselves.”

She went to add that it felt wrong to be in lingerie in a bed with another man other than her spouse, she added:

“That is when it feels highly inappropriate. You’re alone with a man who’s not your husband who also has a husband … he’s in his underwear, you’re in your underwear and you’re sort of dry humping on a bed.”
