Keira Knightley defends shoot and protests Photoshop in Interview magazine. Knightley decided to appear topless in the latest issue of Interview magazine because she is tired of having her body Photoshopped in fashion spreads and movie posters.
Keira Knightley defends shoot and slams Photoshop in Interview magazine. Knightley appears on the cover of Interview magazine’s September issue, and is featured inside in a black and white photo spread shot by Patrick Demarchelier.
In most of the photos, Knightley looks amazing in black designer gowns, but in one she is topless. Knightley appears with no top on, wearing a pair of black trousers and lace gloves.
Knightley explained that the half-naked shot in Interview is her way to protest the usage of Photoshop in the movie and fashion industries.
Knightley who had her breasts Photoshopped on the poster of King Arthur, said:
“I’ve had my body manipulated so many different times for so many different reasons, whether it’s paparazzi photographers or for film posters.That [shoot] was one of the ones where I said, ‘Okay, I’m fine doing the topless shot so long as you don’t make them any bigger or retouch.'”
Knightley decided to protest Photoshop editing, so women can understand that you can be beautiful at any size:
“It does feel important to say it really doesn’t matter what shape you are.I think women’s bodies are a battleground and photography is partly to blame. Our society is so photographic now, it becomes more difficult to see all of those different varieties of shape.”
Knightley defends shoot as she starts revealing more of her rebellious side. Miss Knightley recently spoke about being banned from having a prom picture because she was escorted to the event by her best friend, Emily.
The British star explained that they were not appropriately dressed for the soirée. The talented actress explained:
“Everybody else was completely dressed up, obviously, in that kind of finery, the teachers took us aside and said we were never going to come to anything if [they] didn’t know how to dress appropriately for events like that.”
Knightley went on to share that they were not allowed to have their photo taken, she stated:
“Our photograph…wasn’t allowed — you know when you get up and, I don’t know if this is in America, but you collect all the photographs of prom and you buy whatever ones you want. Ours wasn’t allowed to be displayed on that because it wasn’t appropriate.”
While many are applauding Knightley’s move, others are a bit skeptical. Some people say, she is doing it in order to get headlines for her movie, The Imitation Game, starring Benedict Cumberbatch that will come out on November 28.

Why anyone would want to photo shop her body is beyond me. Why photo shop anyone. Every one and every body is different and a woman’s body is to be enjoyed in its difference. This young lady is beautiful as she is.
*Sigh* Beats me what females think getting topless is going to do. How about you put more clothes on, instead of using everything as an excuse to get naked? There probably wouldn’t be an issue if more females spent more time at the gym, and lest time making excuses.
This is exactly the reason she’s protesting. Telling someone they need to spend more time in the gym? Designers need to stop pushing that all women need to be a size 0 to be beautiful. All bodies are beautiful in their own way.
She’s right.. We’re all unique in many amazing sizes, colors and shape… Right on Keira for taking a stand against the fake madness created by idiots..
That lady has one of the loveliest faces in the world, who cares what her size is ? And, if they were too big she might tip over.
Keira will never be able to win in this situation but I applaud her bravery!
If she gains weight, there will be those who find something wrong with it. If she stays as she has always been, there are those who find that offensive.
It is sad that women are first noticed and judged on how they appear. Society never even notices what else we have to offer if we are not physically appealing first and foremost. We can be the most brilliant mind or the person who will love you as you have never been shown love in life and you won’t give us a shot because we are not “beautiful”.
Remember that brains and a kind heart are what make a person beautiful not looks because they fade fast if that person has no heart.
I don’t know about the need to get get naked just to prove a point, that seems to be happening a lot in the past generation, though I think its unnecessary, oh well. As for the stigma of women’s bodies, it is disgusting how everyone is focused on the looks and if it matches the women in magazines and movies. Everyone knows that they are shopped to hell but still think that they should look like that. How about everyone worry about if this person is HEALTHY or not. That is a basic human concern that nobody seem to have anymore.
