The champion sprinter’s car blew a tire, which lead to him getting out to call 911, his parked vehicle was hit from behind by a tractor trailer, which pushed the car into Torrin. The track star was killed on the spot.

Early Monday Torrin Lawrence was killed on I-75 near Cordele, Georgia.

According to the police, around 1:40 AM, Lawrence was driving from Georgia to his home in Jacksonville, Florida when his car blew a tire.

The 25-year-old parked in the southbound lane and waited outside of the vehicle for help.

As Lawrence was on the phone with his mother Elaine Davis, his disabled car was violently struck by a big tractor trailer.

The tractor trailer’s impact prompted the vehicle to knock into Lawrence and kill him on the scene.

Elaine Davis had to be hospitalized after she understood what happened to her son.

Lawrence’s cousin James Cushion, spoke to the media on behalf of the family saying that they were very proud of him.

Cushion added that the runner was a hard working man, who still found time to share positive words with those around him (something that can be verified on his Facebook and Instagram accounts where he was always saying a kind word about his fiends and team mates).

His teachers from Andrew Jackson High stated that he was talented and humble as a teenager and remained the same way as a young man.

The young athlete who attended the University of Georgia was victorious at the 2010 NCAA indoor 400 meter and won the gold with the U.S. 4x400m meter squad at the International Association of Athletics Federations World Relays in the Bahamas.

The champion sprinter who often talked about the beauty life on Instagram graduated from Georgia with a degree in sociology in 2013.
