Seddique Matteen, the father of Omar Mateen, the Orlando terrorist, has been added to the no-fly lists. Mr. Mateen is not alone, Noor Salman or Noor Salman-Mateen, the mass murderer’s wife, has also been added to the no-fly lists as federal officials continue to investigate the horrific attack.
Seddique Mateen and Noor Mateen have been added to all no-fly lists. The father of Orlando Pulse club shooter Omar Mateen is joining the lists along with his daughter-in-law.
The family members were added to the lists as the authorities, both local and federal work to find out if they took any part in the horrific attack on June 12, 2016, at Pulse, a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida where:
“…fifty people died, including the gunman, Omar Mateen, who was killed by Orlando police after a three-hour standoff. An additional 53 people were injured. It was the deadliest mass shooting by a single gunman and the deadliest incident of violence against LGBT people in U.S. history, and the deadliest terrorist attack in the U.S. since the September 11 attacks in 2001.”
It has been confirmed that Noor was present when her husband purchased the ammunition and a holster used in the club massacre. According to the authorities, the wife and husband texted and even had FaceTime as he was murdering 49 innocent clubgoers.
During the mass shooting while Mateen was locked in a bathroom with many of his victims, he sent a message to his wife to ask if she had seen the news, she responded no and told him that she loved him. Since the nightclub massacre Mr. Seddique has made a series of controversial statements to local media. He stated:
“…this has nothing to do with religion… my son got angry when he saw two men kissing in Miami a couple of months ago..”
Seddique once hosted the Durand Jirga Show, which aired on a channel called Payam-e-Afghan, where he made some disturbing remarks after announcing his candidacy for the Afghan presidency. He claimed that he was grateful for the Afghan Taliban while denouncing the Pakistani government.
Being added to a no-fly list implies that the relatives are not allowed to travel via a commercial airline. Dave Joly, the spokesman for the U.S. Government’s Terrorist Screening Database, which monitors the no-fly lists, would not directly comment on Noor and Seddique Mateen, but was willing to reveal:
“The Terrorist Screening Center does not publicly confirm nor deny whether any individual may be included in the U.S. Government’s Terrorist Screening Database or a subset list.”
Joly added:
“Disclosure of an individual’s inclusion or non-inclusion in the TSDB or on the No Fly List would significantly impair the government’s ability to investigate and counteract terrorism and protect transportation security.”
While officials have interrogated Noor and Seddique Mateen, they have not been charged with any crime.
