Bernie Sanders Pushes ‘#OurRevolution,’ Urges Supporters To Stop Donald Trump

Bernie Sanders is ready to help Hillary Clinton take the fight to Donald Trump this fall, according to a statement he made on Thursday night. Sanders’ #OurRevolution quickly became a trending topic on social media. The senator from Vermont has still not conceded.

After falling short in his quest to capture the lead in the Democratic Party presidential primary race, Bernie Sanders is calling for unity. The 74-year-old senator is urging his numerous followers to support his primary opponent Hillary Clinton to defeat GOP’s presumptive nominee Donald Trump.

Sanders also said Thursday night that he will work with Clinton in the upcoming weeks to reform the Democratic Party. Although he has not conceded the race, this is the clearest sign that Sanders is ready to put and end to his campaign for president. Earlier today, some of his close advisers shared with the media that they were no longer trying to convince Democratic superdelegates (party elders) to back them instead of the former Secretary of State, who earned more votes and pledged delegates during the primary season.

The senator spoke from his hometown and pushed a similar message on social media. He first thanked his supporters and then encouraged them to join the anti-Trump movement and push Clinton across the finish line. This new development comes one week after Clinton became the first woman to clinch the nomination for president in the US in over 200 years. The two primary rivals also met this week.

Sanders, who is reportedly not being considered to be Clinton’s vice-president, is expected to go back to the Senate where he will play a bigger role pushing a progressive agenda.
