Gypsy Blancharde Mother Dead: Daughter Charged In Mom’s Death After Faking Disabilities For Years

Like a scene from a horror movie, Gypsy Blancharde killed her mother, Clauddinnea “Dee Dee” Blancharde, who was suffering from Munchausen syndrome by proxy with the help of her boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn. According to Gypsy Blancharde, her mother forced her pretend to be wheelchair-bound, and sick with cancer for the community to have pity for her.

Clauddinnea “Dee Dee” Blancharde, a mother suffering from the mental illness known as Munchausen by proxy or MSBP, has been killed by her daughter, Gypsy Blancharde, and her boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn. Here is the definition of Munchausen syndrome by proxy:

Munchausen syndrome by proxy: A parenting disorder in which the parent either fabricates an illness or induces an illness in their child…the offending parent is almost always the mother, she usually appears to be a model mother, there is little or no indication of family discord, and the abusive behavior is clearly premeditated, not impulsive, and not in reaction to the child’s behavior.

On Monday, authorities in Missouri were contacted by several people after they read a message posted on a Facebook page belonging to Gypsy Blancharde and her lover, Nicholas Godejohn, that read:

“That Bitch is dead.”

Another post later stated:

“I —SLASHED THAT **** AND RAPED HER SWEET INNOCENT DAUGHTER. ..HER SCREAM WAS SOOOO LOUD LOL.”

When police arrived at Gypsy Blancharde’s mother’s home, they found her lifeless body on her bed. Clauddinnea “Dee Dee” Blanchard was stabbed multiple times.

Miss Blancharde and Godejohn were arrested in Wisconsin the following day. Godejohn, 26, confessed to the police that his girlfriend asked him to murder her 48-year-old mother as she slept, and he obeyed.

Gypsy Blancharde, who is either 19 or 23, said that she got rid of her mother because she made her pretend to be disabled and immobile all her life. According to relatives, the daughter was home-schooled, and the mother did not want her to have her own life. The animosity was building for years, and many saw this coming.

Gypsy Blancharde was forced to shave her head and tell everyone around her that she was battling leukemia. She was also in a wheelchair because her mother lied about her muscular dystrophy and was pushed to take medication to lose her teeth.

The mother also fabricated a story about losing her home during Hurricane Katrina in Louisiana to obtain a home from Habitat for Humanity and government money. Greene County Sheriff Jim Arnott stated:

“It’s a very twisted story trying to sort out what is true and what’s not and as far as motives and how that all links back. We just know there is a lot of deception.”

Blancharde was looking healthy and happy, as she and Godejohn appeared in court where they were charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action. Each is being held on $1 million bond.

Does Gypsy Blancharde deserve some leniency in her mother’s murder?
