Fast and Furious: 3 more films eyed by Universal

The Fast And Furious franchise has 3 more movies to come. In a new interview, Universal Pictures’ chairman, Donna Langley, revealed that the Fast And Furious series is a gold mine that has the potential to give the studio 3 more films depending on how Furious 7 does in theaters.

Fast And Furious 3 More

Fans of Fast And Furious can expect at least 3 more movies from the popular franchise. This week, Universal Pictures’ chairman, Donna Langley, conducted an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, in which she spoke about what is next for the Fast And Furious franchise.

Langley revealed that the franchise is a “mine” (a term that did not sit well with fans) and; therefore, she believes that they can produce several more films. She said:

“We think there’s at least three more.I think it’s still a growing franchise. We’ll see what happens with ‘Furious 7’, obviously, but our box office has grown over the past three or four films and internationally, in particular. So we think that there’s more to mine there. But we’re of course very mindful about fatigue.”

She was also asked how will the brand advance without Paul Walker who passed away about a year ago. Langley explained:

“Paul is, and always will be, an integral part of the story. But there are many other great characters, and it’s also an opportunity to introduce new characters.”

It was revealed that Justin Lin, the franchise’s director since The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift movie, has been asked to direct at least one of the 3 movies.

As for Furious 7, which stars Vin Diesel, Walker, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Lucas Black and Jason Statham, it was filmed in Dubai and in Pikes Peak Highway in Colorado.

Walker’s character Brian O’Conner will not be killed off; instead, his brothers, Caleb and Cody, will be used as stand-ins along with computer-generated imagery. Here is the plot of the film that is due out on April 3, 2015 :

After defeating Owen Shaw and his crew, Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel), Brian O’Conner (Paul Walker) and the rest of the crew are able to return to the United States and live the normal life again as they had wanted, but Owen’s older brother, Ian Shaw (Jason Statham), is after Dominic, seeking revenge for the death of his brother, putting the entire crew in danger once more. After learning of Han’s death, the crew sets out to find the man who killed one of their own, before he finds them first.

Do you think The Fast And Furious franchise has 3 more movies left, or are they destroying a classic for money?
