Apollos Hester, football player and motivational speaker in the making, has gone viral.

On September 19, TWC News Austin’s Lauren Mickler caught up with Hester, just minutes after his team, the East View High School managed to beat the Vandegrift 42-41 in Austin, Texas.

Mickler who might have been expecting a brief and cliché post-game interview was blown away, with a deep and uplifting speech that reminds people of Cuba Gooding Jr ‘s 1996 Oscar acceptance speech.

Hester who obviously listened to R. Kelly’s “I Believe I Can Fly” and Mariah Carey’s “Hero” as a child, shared some encouraging words and explained how to win on the field and in life.

The young football player confessed that sometimes, you start slow, but it is more than OK to encounter few challengers on your path, the goal is not to give up and keep going. How do you keep going?

According to Apollos Hester, you need to have a winning attitude and you need to keep smiling. The teen football player said:

“Yeah, they had us the first half, I’m not gonna lie, they had us. We weren’t defeated, but they had us. But it took guts, it took an attitude – that’s all it takes.”

So, what if you still keep failing? Hester has another solution for that, when you can not do it alone, your loved ones, your friends, your teammates or God will pick you up.

The epic interview by Apollos Hester is a hit online with over one million views on YouTube and the football player has created a Twitter account to say thank you.

Many who have watched Apollos Hester’s interview agree to say the NFL needs more football players like him.
