Aminah Jennifa Ahmed may be gone, but her dreams will be fulfilled by her family and friends. Last Friday, loved ones gathered to see Aminah Jennifa Ahmed, a happy and accomplished young woman, take the stage to receive her degrees in biology and business from the University of Texas at Arlington.

After the graduation ceremony, Miss Ahmed told her father, Shamsul Ahmed, she had a headache and vomited several times on campus. When Aminah Jennifa Ahmed arrived home, still feeling sick, she went to take a nap.

Moments later, she told her father that she could not breathe and was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was declared brain dead. Ahmed was put on life support, but she died the following day. Shamsul Ahmed explained:

“There was zero symptoms, zero signs, zero everything [before graduation day,].She said she had a headache and throwing up, and that’s it.”

“The family is in immense pain having seeing their daughter graduate literally hours before she was declared completely brain dead. Please keep her and them in your sincerest,” Omar Suleiman, the director of the Islamic Learning Foundation and an Imam in Texas, wrote on his Facebook page.

Texas doctors believe that Ahmed suffered a brain aneurysm. According to Web MD:

“A brain (cerebral) aneurysm is a bulging, weak area in the wall of an artery that supplies blood to the brain. In most cases, a brain aneurysm causes no symptoms and goes unnoticed. In rare cases, the brain aneurysm ruptures, releasing blood into the skull and causing a stroke. When a brain aneurysm ruptures, the result is called a subarachnoid hemorrhage. Depending on the severity of the hemorrhage, brain damage or death may result.”

Aminah Jennifa Ahmed had plans to become a physician’s assistant and do some good in the world by helping people in South Asia, especially her home country of Bangladesh.

To complete his daughter’s mission, Mr. Ahmed has launched the Aminah Sees charity and is hoping to collect $1 million dollars to help children in impoverish Asian countries. The GoFundme page reads:

“We all love Aminah and want her to make an impact in the world through the change she made in us. We want to carry out her dream by asking you to help. We are seeking donations to begin a program called “Aminah Sees.” We want to start off by making her dream of helping South Asian children get access to suitable vision care and glasses. Please assist this cause by making a donation or offering a prayer to allow a child to see Aminah’s vision come to life. We hope this becomes a continuous charity (Sadaqa Jariah) for her.
With love. “

Aminah Jennifa Ahmed’s name will live on through her family’s efforts to help others.
