Zoe Kravitz‘s GQ photos are sizzling hot, but she chose to tackle a very important topic inside the magazine. For this GQ photo spread, Zoe Kravitz showed off her wild side by wearing a bikini top made of fur and a tiny leather skirt lying on a rug.

The 26-year-old star, who was going for an animalistic/tribal look, even wore a nose ring and sported long box braids that looked like Rastafarian locks.

In the photos, Kravitz looks sexy and healthy – but the truth of the matter is that the young woman did not always see herself the same way as others did.

In the interview accompanying the spread, Kravitz, who recently split from Chris Pine, opened up about her lengthy fight with anorexia.

While most young women suffering from the disorder are often trying to accomplish the task of looking like celebrities, who are Photoshopped, filtered and enhanced by surgeries, Kravitz was hurting herself to be like her mother and the thin models her dad dated. The daughter of model and actress Lisa Bonet and rocker Lenny Kravitz, said:

“My mother’s a…beautiful woman, and I think, in some way, I felt intimidated by that sometimes. Everyone sees themselves in some weird, obscure way. People meet her and don’t know what to do with themselves, but she doesn’t know how f**king cool she is. Or what she means to the rest of the world. [And] my dad dated a lot of supermodels.”

Zoe Kravitz went on to explain that she hit rock bottom at the age of 16. She shared:

“I had a really hard time when I was 16, 17, 18. I started with the eating disorder in high school…I don’t think it was about the fame, but I think it was definitely about being around that world, seeing that world. I felt pressured… It was f**ked up, man. You could see my ribcage. I was just trying to lose more weight for the film, but I couldn’t see: You’re there. Stop. It was scary.”

The Divergent actress added:

“Those dark days are over, she said that she is learning to love herself and accepted to play anorexic character in The Mad Max: Fury Road because, “even though it kind of triggered everything back up for me, it allowed me to really confront it and then hopefully let it go forever.”

In this country, it is estimated that 20 million women and 10 million men suffered from eating disorder at some point in their life and the National Eating Disorders Association can help with a simple phone call at 1-800-931-2237.

  1. Maybe those gang tatts and that zulu nose ring are the reason men won’t talk to you.
