Zahra Clare Baker: An Homicide – Police announced today that the disappearance of Zahra Clare Baker is now being treated as a homicide. The young girl had previously undergone cancer treatment, and was left with a prosthetic leg and hearing aids. She was first reported missing on Saturday, but police have said that there are no relatives that have seen the girl alive in the last month. Most of the family has described her life with her family as “miserable,” saying that she was locked in her room a majority of the time and was punished for the smallest of offenses despite the fact that she had survived cancer.

The girl’s stepmother confessed to writing the ransom note that was found at the house where the girl lived. She has been charged with felony obstruction of justice in the case, and is under investigation for murder. After admitting to writing the note, she asked to see an attorney.

Uncertainty over whether or not the girl is alive has hurt the search efforts. A number of people in the community have come forward asking to help, but police have said that without information regarding how long she has been missing, they really have no idea where to search for her.

The father of the girl, Adam Baker, has yet to be charged in the case, but police have said that he has yet to be ruled out as a suspect in her disappearance. Police say that he is cooperating. Officials have said that he told investigators that it was possible that his wife was involved in the disappearance.
Let us hope they find this poor girl alive and well.
