Shooting Spree in Washington State: Suspect Targets Police

Washington Shooting Spree

A Washington shooting spree has left two people injured, including a police officer and the unidentified gunman. During the shooting, which lasted over an hour and spread in three Washington towns, the man targeted police headquarters, patrol cars, a school and cops.

On Wednesday night, a crazed man went on a shooting spree in Washington. According to authorities, the shooting spree began around 9 PM. An unnamed man, who is said to be 43 years of age started shooting at a patrol car at a police station in Granite Falls, where he resides.

Few minutes later, he drove his white pickup truck to Lake Stevens Police Department, where he took out his frustration on several vehicles. The Washington man shot numerous times at a patrol car and an animal control vehicle.

He also shot several rounds at the building where the police station is located and at a reader board outside, according to Lake Stevens Police Commander, Dennis Taylor.

At around 10 PM, the individual continued with the shooting spree in the city of Marysville. The criminal shot more than 20 bullets at another patrol car. The cops ordered the man to get out of his truck and to surrender, but he failed to obey, which lead to a car chase.

The Washington shooting spree suspect made the strange decision to drive slowly while firing at the police cars following him. He also fired shots at Grove Elementary School, before finally being arrested.

Talking to local media, many Washington residents said they were scared by the amount of shots they heard. Mackenzie Harris, 17, of Marysville, who witnessed the shooting spree said:

“We heard gunshots, so we ran inside. While we were running up to my room, we heard, like, two dozen more shots being fired. We walked back down stairs and heard cops screaming and a bunch of yelling.”

While no one was hurt at Lake Stevens and Granite Falls, it was not the case in Marysville. A Marysville police sergeant who exchanged gun fire with the man was wounded.

The 19-year old veteran was treated at a local hospital and rapidly released. As for the shooter, he is still in the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to one of the officers, a nervous breakdown and mental issues caused the man to go on the shooting spree.

  1. they’re hiding the gunman’s identity. could only mean one of two things:

    he’s black

    -or-

    he’s here illegally.

if he had been a white guy with an NRA card in his wallet, we’d already know everything about him, including his address and where his kids go to school.

    1. According to the article the gunman resides in Granite Falls which is 90% White, less than 1% is Black, the other 9% is Native American and Hispanic. The odds seem to suggest that the gunman is White. Also, if he was here illegally chances are that would have been the first thing mentioned. They’ve already mitigated his actions by stating that he had a nervous breakdown.
