Twitter New Interface Debuts

The new Twitter interface has now gone live to all of their users. They had slowly rolled out the new interface so that they could avoid the bugs that come with rolling out something so massive. Surprisingly, the new layout did not receive a lot of criticism, like most had suspected it would. Facebook has famously tweaked their layout several times throughout their history, and has received a large amount of backlash from users who are not fond of the new setup.

It was feared that Twitter would experience the same thing. They slimmed down the timeline, and added a number of trend-related options on the side of the interface. They wanted to improve the functionality of the Twitter timeline page without adding too many confusing options. It appears that they have done a good job, as the new interface has been mostly well received.

The concept of Twitter is a basic one, and the service has become the largest source of streaming information on the web alongside Facebook. They recently announced that their ultimate goal was to reach a total of one billion users, which is a goal that they are well on their way to but are still quite far away from.

It will be interesting to see what kind of changes are made to the interface in the future. As it stands now, everyone seems to enjoy the interface and the company has avoided severe backlash over the changes.
