Tropical Storm Alex and the 2010 Hurricane Season
*Sponsored Links*Tropical Storm Alex and the 2010 Hurricane Season – With the first tropical cyclone of the season, named Alex upon us , many are wondering what the long term hurricane season forecast may or may not look like. The storm will likely head into Northern Mexico as a hurricane, as it picks up speed in the ocean. After Mexico, people are asking if the hurricane will make its way through the oil-laden waters of the Gulf of Mexico. If it does, it could potentially lead to a two week stoppage of work in the region relating to the oil spill.
The storm is expected to bring two to four foot swells to the oil spill areas, which is not a good sign for locals. By all accounts, the number of systems that we see this year will likely be somewhere in the tens, with a number of the major hurricanes hitting the US. The numbers that have been issued are among the highest that the research facilities have ever issued. WSI, INC. stated that they believe we will see 20 systems this year, with 11 hurricanes and 5 major.

CSU gave a similar outlook, saying that they predicted 18 systems with 10 hurricanes, 5 of them being major. The numbers are much higher than these agencies have predicted previously.
So, residents of the coast line in hurricane-risk areas should take these estimates into consideration, but do not become frightened by the high estimates as there is nothing concrete about them at this time.
