Steven Velez, Florida band director has shocked the community after sexual allegations surfaced. Steven Velez, a former Florida band director, has been arrested for having sex with two of his female students. Velez, who worked as Poinciana High School’s band director, was charged with two counts of committing unlawful sexual acts with certain minors.
Steven Velez, a Florida band director is set to spend some serious time behind bars. On Tuesday, Steven Velez, 25, of Kissimmee was arrested by members of the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.
According to Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman, Twis Lizasuain, the investigation into Steven Velez’s illegal and immoral activities was launched on November 18. Officers were contacted by a 17-year-old student from Poinciana High School, who revealed that when she was 16, she received text messages from Velez.
She accepted to go to Velez’s house on numerous occasions and eventually they began a sexual relationship. The teenager and Velez had sex in his office at the school and sometimes in his home.
The Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman said that there might be more victims and added:
“The first victim told us he was sending her texts, which led her to going over to his house. She said that some of the incidences did occur in his office at school.”
Earlier this month, the young lady discovered that another 17-year-old student at the school was also sleeping with the former band director. After confessing to her parents, she decided to call the cops.
Lizasuain has revealed that the other 17-year-old student has confirmed that she was also a victim. Investigators working on the case of Florida band director Steven Velez, said that when he was brought in for questioning he cooperated with them. Steven Velez told authorities that he only had sex with two students and he did not keep pictures or videos of the encounters.
He was arrested and booked into the Osceola County Jail. Velez was charged with two counts of committing unlawful sexual acts with certain minors, which is a second-degree felony.
Last week, as authorities began investigating Velez, he resigned from his post at the school district. Velez was working with the district since 2012. Osceola County schools spokeswoman, Dana Schafer, said:
“We found out about the allegation on Nov. 18, and immediately notified the proper authorities, which of course includes law enforcement.”
Schafer went to add that when classes resume after Thanksgiving, there will be guidance counselors available for students. The former Florida band director Steven Velez, is being held at the Osceola County Jail on a $2,000 bond.

Another teacher from Poinciana High School, spoke to the media saying that she is surprised by Velez’s actions because he appears to be very shy.
