Sojin Suicide

Ahn Sojin’s suicide has gone viral with thousands of fans using the Twitter hashtag #RIPSojin to pay tribute to the star. On Tuesday, February 24th, the K Pop music world lost Ahn Sojin to suicide.

22-year-old Sojin was found unconscious in the garden of her apartment complex in Daegu. Ahn Sojin, who was a former member of the girl group Baby Kara, was rushed to a nearby hospital, but it was already too late.

It is claimed that the former DSP Media trainee may have jumped to her death from her apartment located on the 10th floor. According to the police, no suicide note was found, but friends of Sojin have revealed that she was suffering from depression. A representative from the Daeduk police station, issued a statement that read:

“We have concluded it to be suicide and we will be wrapping up the case. We did not find any traces of evidence that would suggest that it was something other than suicide. The family of the deceased are having a very difficult time, they want to send her off peacefully so there will not be any autopsy.”

Miss Ahn Sojin, who recently appeared in the Kara Project, MBC’s variety program starring the group Kara, often spoke about her determination to be a successful pop star. Sojin had explained that she wanted to make her father proud, (her father did not consider being an artist as a real career).

The former leader of Girl’s Day, who often wept on the show, had the following to say about her dad’s disapproval of her decision to be an entertainer:

“I should make a debut as soon as possible, so that I can show my dad that this is a wonderful job.”

She also shared:

“My motto is to live happily. All the pains and difficulties I went through are remembered as happy moments as time passed. Once things pass, they no longer seem serious. So I try to enjoy my life even when I feel painful.”

With the headline “Sojin suicide” trending on social media, DSP Media, a local entertainment agency, was forced to confirm the death of Sojin in a statement that read:

“We suddenly heard of this unfortunate news today. It is so unfortunate. We will do everything we can to help her family.”

It is being reported that Sojin was fired by DSP Media in January and she was not expected to join the label’s upcoming girl group, April. The termination of her contract, the lack of family support made her depressed and pushed her to commit suicide, according to insiders.

Sojin’s suicide has shocked an entire country, her fans hope to keep her memory alive. What are your thoughts on this tragedy?

she was a very talented young lady and I am sorry she commented suicide. Please remember when one door close’s a window always open, a window of something new. So be patient and wait, it will change, always, but it doesn’t mean it over. RIP

The image shows Park Sojin of Girl’s Day, not Ahn Sojin.

It’s always so tragic when a young life so full of promise is snuffed out like Sojin’s has been, by her own hand. Her whole life ahead of her, & she just couldn’t see it was worthwhile to continue living…?

Her family is no doubt devastated, & to them go my condolences. May this beautiful young woman RIP.
