Sharon Stone: Mississippi LGBT Law Lead To The Relocation Of ‘The Principal’ Shoot

In a statement issued by Sharon Stone, she revealed that she has cancelled plans to film in Mississippi. Stone, who is currently working on The Principal, said she can not do her job in the state because of their new law, which discriminates against the LGBT community.

Bay City Blues actress Sharon Stone will not be traveling to Mississippi even if it will cause setbacks to her new project.

Stone, who is a proud defendant of LGBT people, is frustrated by Mississippi’s Religious Liberty Bill, aka House Bill 1523, that allows businesses with religious objections to deny wedding services to same-sex couples.

Miss Stone was supposed to start working on the forthcoming movie called The Principal, which focuses on cyber-bullying in Mississippi in June. However, the movie star has opted for another location. The budget for the film is $300,000.

In a statement released to Mississippi Film Studios President Rick Moore, Stone said:

“I will not work in any state that holds or is actively creating laws to legally support discrimination against American citizens whether due to their race, religion, gender or sexual orientation, nor where those laws are passed or approved by the government of said state.”

Moore added that the bill is already hurting the burgeoning movie industry in the state:

“HB 1523 has stirred many passionate opinions, which has unfortunately slowed the momentum of the film industry. The incentive is still strong to shoot in Mississippi, so I expect independent productions without A-list talent will still consider it an option.”

Stone is currently filming several movies including Mothers and Daughters, Running Wild, Darknet, and The Disaster Artist.
