Identical twin sisters Sarah Mariuz and Leah Rodgers became first-time parents the same day. This is a story straight out a Hollywood movie.

On Thanksgiving Day 2015, friends and family reunited to spend few days together, and Leah and her husband were about to announce to their loved ones that they were expecting their first child – but the plan had to be altered. Leah said that as soon as her twin sister, Sarah Mariuz, arrived at the family home, she knew that she was pregnant too.

Mrs. Rodgers was gracious enough to let Mrs. Mariuz share the baby news and waited to make it a double surprise. Rodgers shared:

“I wanted it to be a surprise, but when she showed up at the door – it was the funniest thing – I opened the door, welcomed her into the home, but as soon as I saw her, I knew she was pregnant too. I can’t explain it, I just knew. My prediction was that she was five days behind me, and it turned out her due date was four days after me.”

During the holiday get-together, the sisters talked and laughed at the incredible adventure they had embarked on. Rodgers added:

“I was like ‘Oh my gosh, shut up!’. “We stood there and giggled and our family was in complete shock. It’s just one of those things that’s totally possible, but when it’s confirmed, it’s so crazy.”

The pair kept in touch via daily text messages and telephone calls, where they talked about their labor fears, morning sickness, and the happiness one gets to know one day they will meet their baby. Rodgers went on to reveal that despite living miles away from each other, they were able to get together and have a joint baby shower with blue and pink cakes.

Moreover, on Thursday, June 30, the two sisters went into labor, prompting the family to create a group text to get updates. Rodgers gave birth to a baby boy with the name Reid Joseph at 1:18 a.m. local time in Denver, Colorado, and Mariuz delivered a baby girl, Samantha Lynne, at 1:18 a.m. in La Jolla, California.

Rodgers said they were shocked when her brother-in-law announced the time of birth of her little niece. She said:

“When my sister’s husband got the text about Reed being born at 1:18 a.m. he apparently shouted at the doctors, he couldn’t believe it!. It was literally the exact same time.”

To be clear, the 35-year-old sisters never planned to have children at the same time, it just happened. The mothers and the babies are doing well and are eager to meet during the Christmas holiday.
