San Francisco Earthquake: New Quake Hits The California City
San Francisco Earthquake: New Quake Hits The California City – Earlier today residents in San Francisco were rattled by a 4.0 earthquake that left no damages nor injured behind, and several hours later the city was shaken by another temblor that measured 3.9 on the Richter magnitude scale.
While California is often hit by seisms, in the wake of the natural disasters in Haiti and Japan it appears that those living in the state will never get used to the shaking.
The quakes that hit the city at around 2:41 PM and 8:16 PM local time caused a frenzy of tweets on the popular social networking site Twitter and Google searches in order to obtain information on the situation.
According to a report released by the U.S. Geological Survey the first earthquake was centered 2 miles east-southeast of Berkeley with a depth of 6.1 miles, while the second seism was centered about the same place as the previous one – it centered across the bay from San Francisco.
The strange part about the story was that the Golden state was struck with two quakes just hours after it conducted its annual earthquake preparedness drill dubbed the the 2011 Great California ShakeOut in which nearly 9 million Californians participated in .
