Ryan Adams And Mandy Moore’s Divorce Gets Ugly, Estranged Couple Fighting Over Pet Support

Ryan Adams and Mandy Moore are going through a bitter divorce that has dragged off for over a year now. In the last episode of the divorce drama, Moore demanded that Adams pay up to $37,000 in spousal support so that she can care for their eight pets – six cats, and two dogs.

Are Ryan Adams and Mandy Moore ever going to sign those divorce papers and move on with their lives? The “To Be Young (Is to Be Sad, Is to Be High)” singer and Mandy Moore announced that they were breaking up in January after six years of marriage.

Adams and Moore issued a statement revealing that the split was going to be amicable. It was well-polished and read:

“Mandy Moore and Ryan Adams have mutually decided to end their marriage of almost six years. It is a respectful, amicable parting of ways and both Mandy and Ryan are asking for media to respect their privacy at this time.”

However, almost one year later, they are feuding over money, who should take care of the pets, and they have refused to sign the divorce papers. So, what is taking Adams and Moore so long to separate officially?

Believe it or not, the duo is currently fighting over who should pay for food and care for the eight pets – six cats and two dogs – they adopted. This month, Moore revealed that she will not accept the settlement being proposed by Adams because he has refused to pay spousal support.

Moore claimed that Adams earns $151k per month while she makes less than a quarter of that and is, therefore, requesting $37,000 a month. Moore is also asking Adams to help care for four of their eight pets until they finalize the details of the divorce settlement. According to court documents, Moore said:

“Although I love our pets, it is overwhelming for me to take care of eight of them all of the time, I cancel a prior work engagement because my housekeeper was ill and unable to stay with our pets while I traveled for work … Without Ryan’s help caring for the house and our pets, I have not been able to work as much as I would like.”

Adams is a singer and songwriter, who has made 13 albums and produced for Willie Nelson, Jesse Malin, Jenny Lewis, Fall Out Boy, Counting Crows, Weezer, Norah Jones, America, and Minnie Driver.

Moore is an actress, who has starred in films such as Christmas in Conway, Dedication, The Princess Diaries, A Walk To Remember and How To Deal. She is set to appear in the Tangled TV series for Disney.

The two wed in March 2009 after dating on and off for a year and being engaged for less than one month. They have no children.

  1. Was he on board with the decision to buy EIGHT pets in the first place? Sometimes these are the types of decisions people will acquiesce to but not really be behind or have done if left to their own devices. I love animals, but pets are not children. If this was more Mandy’s decision, pets can be sold to loving homes. If he was an equal participant, he should pay a share of whatever it costs to finance them. The number she is claiming seems excessive but hard to know from the outside.
