Queen Elizabeth New York Visit – New York has prepared to give Queen Elizabeth royal treatment this Tuesday. Queen Elizabeth is 84-years-old, a British monarch and will now be returning to New York for the first time in over 35 years of her life. The visit will be the first stop of her trip to get to Ground Zero as well as the United Nations. However, she’s keeping things quick and to-the-point because she will back in Britain before nightfall.

Her appearance in New York is following the end of her trip to Canada where she resided for nine days. Her husband Prince Phillip and her celebrated the famous Canada Day throughout the country. However, a huge power glitch that caused a failure in Toronto shut down electricity in the very hotel they were staying in. This concluded their final day in Canada and gave even more reason to proceed onward.

Prince Phillip was given the honor of presenting the Duke of Edinburgh awards to youths who have partaken in community service activities during the time that the lights were shut off in Royal York Hotel. Phillip was able to laugh about the situation and continue with his ceremony. Some reports from energy officials said the power outage was caused by a fire in western Toronto that affected a transformer. The outage was bad enough to send TV’s and screens black in trading floors, blacken traffic lights and stall buses and subways.
Queen Elizabeth will be visiting the United Nations and addressing the General Assembly today. This is very similar to how she conducted her visit in 1957 when the UN was a country of only 12 years. At that time, Queen Elizabeth had only been crowned for 4 years.
