Plenty of Fish Down – Plenty of Fish is a popular free dating site that has taken over the dating market over the course of the last few months. As less people are interested in paying for an online dating service with other services, like Facebook and MySpace being free, Plenty Of Fish has been able to wrap up a large portion of the market and has surpassed other popular sites like eHarmony.
However, the site was giving its users a lot of problems on Monday morning, and was giving most who tried to logon an error. The site said that there was a “server Error in “/” Application.” The company soon announced that they were working on getting the site back up and working, and believed that they may have identified the problem.
As of 1 PM Eastern, the site was still down. It is apparent that the site is having a problem connected to the database, and it is not currently clear when the site will be back up and operational. The company does not have a huge staff behind the site, so it may take a bit longer than you would think.
Anyone who looking to find that special someone today has been unable to so far. The site is still having problems, although some users have claimed that they have been able to get the site to load. For now, users of the service will just have to wait until the tech guys over at Plenty of Fish have the situation ironed out.

You find what you attract… there are some really nice guys on this site, and some real doozies. You don’t have to kiss every frog you meet… some of them just stay frogs.
But I’ve gotten some wonderful dates off of those pages.

I’ve been on that site for years and its almost like I’m invisible, it’s making me wonder if you women know what you really want or if us men that have big hearts are destined to be single for the rest of our lives
Just when I was making some new friends, this site goes down. I like many others have no way of talking to my new made friends and want to know how long it will be before it is restored. This is a real inconvenience to thousands who are depending on you. Some need to be put out of this site because of the purpose it is being used. I just tell them not to contact me anymore and delete their info. I know that some are legitimate and want to meet a nice person, more power to them. I wish them well. Just get rid of some of the scum.
Rumour is, some of the profiles that were supposed to be hidden were visible. They took it down to fix that.

There are scum bags on every dating site! Making it free doesn’t change the percentage of the types of people. There’s a larger volume of people using it so of course you’re going to have a higher incidence of gross people. BUT you are also going to have a higher incidence of quality people. By the way, I am a member of the site and I am very physically attractive so speak for yourselves! Don’t hate!!
I think a lot of it matters on where you live too. The city I live in is big and the state of Colorado is one of the friendliest states I’ve been and I’ve visited many places and people are usually pretty polite here. I meet assholes at college and work all the time too. I don’t see anything wrong with online dating.

Nevermind the site being down. This is the absolute WORST dating site I have ever used in my life. If you could ever picture a dating site run by a Nazi bastard….THIS is it. After signing up with as many as 6 dating websites, I finally found my mate on Plenty of Fish. No, I’m not a hideous freak, just a professional woman who’s not looking for her Mr. Right in a bar or in the produce section of the trendy supermarkets. I’ve been the almost victim of scammers on several websites and even paid for memberships to some with no success. It just so happened that Plenty of Fish was the right matchmaker for me. I am so thankful for the website for being there when I was looking for my Prince Charming. I hope the website is back in operation soon. It would be a shame for so many would be couples to miss out on the love and happiness that we have found. Don’t “dis” the site. It does seem to attract all kinds of people but there is someone for everyone. Those of you who think it’s for the obese or ugly need to look deeper than the mirror. Ugliness is more than skin deep too. You shallow people should be ashamed of yourselves. You’re not very attractive!
I am fairly new to this site, and find that, although having an actual conversation with others is some difficult, it can happen. The site is free, and few things in life can say that. I, for one, miss even attempting to converse with others via this medium, and hope the site is operational soon.
heres hoping the techs at POF have database backups in place. based on some of the server errors i saw when trying to get on earlier they may have to wipe abd rebuild the database.
Most woman on this site (POF) post “if your looking for a one night stand, forget it!”
But statistically, from my standpoint, its played out like this:
4 out of 5 woman look nothing like there picture (either their proportionate in size, are lacking beauty, meaning shallow)
3 out of 5 woman only really want a one night stand
2 out of 5 woman are actually down to earth
and 1 out of 10 woman are truly what they say…

POF, is a very good site and of course its free. If you need to pay to join a dating site that promises to be full of “babes just dying to meet males” then you deserve to be ripped off. They should be called “russian burd looking for green card”

the site is free also however, the owner “tears” is a total idiot. He is rude, smutty and a total “a hole” and most of the So called “users” have a IQ of a baked potato. try that site and then when your finished over there and seen how not to run a free site try slagging off plenty of fish.

Not been using POF long and have prob messaged abt 7 ladies . Have some nice chats with nearly all of them( not smutty ) . I’ve met one lady so far and she was a lovely person who, while probably isn,t “the one” is someone i’m going to be happy to have as a friend . Hope the site is back up soon . It’s a great way to meet new friends .

Like it or not, you cant beat the price. If I’m going to be rejected, I’d rather not have to pay for it.
And who cares if “free” doesn’t match you on 27 levels of compatibility. You need to do some of the work yourself. People are just as capable of lying on the pay sites as they are on the free sites. Practice “catch and release” while fishing on Plenty of fish, if you dont find a keeper. And you’re not going to know if you have a keeper until you reel a few in.

I have met some pretty hot and wild women on this website. You just have to be persistent and be different. The guy who runs this site earns $300K a month in adsense money, so it’s a brilliant idea.
Glad to hear the site is back up. I think POF is, indeed, great in the sense that it’s free, has a LOT of users, and a lot of opportunities. It’s more of a casual dating source, and can’t be approached with the same expectations as a high-end matchmaker (which is where you’d go to stop dating and find an actual soulmate). Case in point I have friends who’ve used POF successfully and friends who’ve used old school executive matchmakers like Richard Easton with great success. The difference is that the success rate w/ matchmakers is higher, and you succeed quicker. But like Sammy says, “if I’m going to be rejected, I’d rather not have to pay for it.” So true.
I happen to know an unattractive, over-weight woman who found love on POF, so eat your heart out you mean people. If you haven’t learned that love is more than skin deep, its probably the reason you’re still single! We all grow old, too, so we’re all gonna get ugly at some point. Best to find love in who a person is, rather than their “youthful beauty”. I can speak for myself, as I’ve been married over 30 years (was once attractive, now just…middle age and paunchy. (I’m currently helping a friend navigate POF and providing an extra set of objective eyes to help keep her safe). Hope you all find what you’re looking for!
