Her ex-husband, Robin Thicke, has spent months trying to win her back in the media, but she kept a low profile the whole time always refusing to give a public response to the drama.

This is all over now, Paula Patton is finally talking and she has a lot to say. First, she remains positive in the face of adversity. Not even a messy divorce will be able to take her joy and pretty smile away.

The 39-year-old stunning mother of one appeared Friday on ABC’s Good Morning America to set the record straight and let the world know that she is doing great. Patton said:

“I’m doing really well. I mean, the honest truth is it has been challenging, but it’s been a year of growth, lots of healing, learning about all new things, but I’ve come out of it stronger.”

The Jumping the Broom actress added:

“My son’s happy. And I’m very—you know, I feel like everything happens for a reason. And then you have to move on and grow from there. The truth is it’s hard for me to say this because I don’t always do this, but it’s being grateful for what you have. It’s so easy for us to focus on the negative things, but usually, the positive in your life outweighs that. And you have to just be thankful for what you have right now.”

The star of Baggage Claim shared the main reason, she was able to stay strong through the storm, she explained:

“The thing is you can’t wallow in sadness or stay in bed when you have a child. And they’re so full of life and wonder. And he brings me so much joy.”

For the time being, the beautiful actress is focusing on her career, she is currently representing Ellen Tracy’s clothing line. Here is what she had to say about the new partnership:

“It’s purpose was not just to empower women but to celebrate women. It was kind of an amazing blessing. Ellen Tracy came to me and said, ‘Would you like to be our brand ambassador?’ And I looked at the clothing and – amazing.”

The 2 Guns actress also revealed why other women should trust this brand over another one. She said:

“It’s really well made, classic clothing that’s affordable. But what I liked about it was that you could, like, add your own twist to it … you can make it as edgy or quirky as you want and add your personality to it.”

Patton has a lot going on professionally. She was recently picked to portray the main female character in the pilot for ABC’s drug cartel drama Runner. CSI: Miami‘s Adam Rodriguez landed the male lead in the Kim Moses-produced series.

In 2016, she will star in the fantasy film Warcraft, but she will not be part of Mission: Impossible 5, something the director of the project, Christopher McQuarrie, confirmed on Twitter over the weekend.
