Oxford YOLO addition will surely make Drake happy. Oxford has announced that YOLO, which stands for “you only live once” and was popularized by rapper Drake has entered the online dictionary. Along with YOLO, 52 others words or terms have entered Oxford’s online version including baller, cray, hot mess and side boob. After YOLO, rest assured that Drake will work hard to get OVO into Oxford.
On Thursday, staff members were thrilled to reveal the list of words and terms that made it in the August update of OxfordDictionaries.com.
The word that caught the world’s attention the most is YOLO, which is an acronym for You Only Live Once.
Canadian rapper Drake made YOLO very popular through out 2011 and 2012, although it was trademarked by a restaurant in Florida before he did so.
The Young Money star stated in almost every interview that YOLO is his motto in life, he even has it tattooed on his arm.
Rihanna’s former boyfriend has been pushing the word OVO, which stands for October’s very own, maybe it will land in the dictionary next time around.
A total of 53 words were selected and among them were some sweet compliments such as adorbs meaning cute and hench, which means to be in shape.
And some mean insults like douchebaggery and neckbeard (a man who does not take care of his appearance).
Several words from the tech world made it in, but most of them were jargon invented by internet users, for example ICYMI (in case you missed it) and WDYT (what do you think).
Here are few words that the cool kids are using these days.
Reality star and R&B singer Tamar Braxton’s favorite term throw shade, which means to discretely insult someone made it in.
Hot mess, which is widely used in the African American community to describe a hideous outfit or hairdo found a spot.
Kanye West will surely love humblebrag, which is defined as a modest statement intended to actually make oneself look good.

Jenny McCarthy’s brief stay on “The View” has made the term anti-vax very popular.
We can blame Kim Kardashian for side boob and Miley Cyrus for SMH (shake my head.)
And is it fair to say the “bro hug” between president Barack Obama and New Jersey governor Chris Christie after hurricane Sandy cost Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan, and the Republican party the 2012 presidential election?
