Oprah Winfrey’s Half-Sister: Patricia
Fans of the Oprah Winfrey Show were on pins and needles as the talk show host revealed last week that on Monday there would be a major surprise that involved her personal life.
Media and the web were abuzz about what this new twist in the 56 year old Winfrey’s life could be and speculation ranged from one end of the spectrum to the other.
Then the cloak of secrecy was lifted as the truth revealed was that Oprah had a half sister who was given up at birth by Oprah’s mother.
The sister, Patricia reunited with Oprah on the popular daytime show amongst much emotional fanfare. It was discovered that Vernita Lee, Oprah’s mother had become pregnant when Oprah was 9 years old.
Patricia it is reported went on to live in a variety of foster homes until the age of 7. She was then adopted and had what she refers to as a “difficult” childhood.
It was on her own initiative that Patricia did the detective work to track down her real mother and the astonishing revelation that she had a half sister who turned out to be the billionaire media mogul Winfrey.
