Once Upon A Time : New ABC TV Series Premieres – When you miss “Lost” you now have two options, tune in to Hawaii Five-O where several of the characters like Kim and Locke seem to live on or try the new option of watching ABC’s new series “Once Upon a Time” created by the dead show’s heads Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis.
The series premiered this evening and it must be said, that just like “Lost” it is very lighthearted, funny at times with lots of WTF moments thanks to Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis’ wild imagination – heck there are even a real world and parallel world for old memories sake.
“Once Upon a Time” stars Jennifer Morrison as Emma Swan (Snow White’s daughter), a bounty hunter with a heavy past who decides to make an idyllic little town in Maine called Storybrooke her home only to discover that strange things go bump in the night.
As it turned out, the area was an enchanted forest before where all of our childhood fairytale characters like Rumpelstiltskin, Snow White along with the Seven Dwarfs accompanied by her Prince Charming used to live.
Like all good fairytale there is an evil personage to create chaos and who brings destruction along her path – in this case it is the Evil Queen played by Lana Parrilla who has magically erased all of the characters’ memories and has transported them to a modern version of Storybrooke, where she is the mayor and is able to prevent them from having their much deserving happy endings – don’t you just hate when that happens?
Take poor Snow White for example played by Ginnifer Goodwin.
She is transformed into a normal school teacher named Mary Margaret Blanchard who had great difficulties finding her true Prince Charming, until she met a mysterious coma patient played by Josh Dallas.
So how does Emma Swan comes in to play you may ask about now?
Emma Swan’s skills and curiosity as a bounty hunter leads her to Henry (her biological son) played by by Jared Gilmore who is The Evil Queen’s adopted son and whom with the help of mystical book presented to him by Mary Margaret guides him to the truth about the characters’ predicaments and reveals his mom’s magical yet cruel side.
