Olivia Munn Tae Kwon Do Clip Goes Viral: Actress Has Great Martial Arts Skills

Olivia Munn has some impressive tae kwon do skills, and she is thrilled to show them off on Instagram. In a new interview with Good Housekeeping, Munn confessed that she practices martial arts because they help her battle depression and anxiety.

Olivia Munn

Olivia Munn is a tae kwon do expert and can easily take someone twice her size down on the mate. According to experts, tae kwon do was developed during the 1940s and 1950s by Korean martial artists.

The martial art is a combination of taekkyeon, gwonbeop, subak and even karate, and it permits its practitioners “to reach physical prowess, moral development, and spiritual growth.”

General Choi Hong Hi, who is considered as the founder of tae kwon do came up with the Theory of Power, which is composed of Reaction Force, Concentration, Equilibrium, Breath Control, Mass, and Speed for all practitioners to abide by. Hi described Reaction Force as:

The principle that as the striking limb is brought forward, other parts of the body should be brought backward in order to provide more power to the striking limb. As an example, if the right leg is brought forward in a roundhouse kick, the right arm is brought backward to provide the reaction force.

Speed is:

…the speed of execution of a technique in taekwondo is deemed to be even more important than mass in terms of providing power.

The short clip posted by Miss Olivia Munn clearly shows that she masters the philosophy put forward by Hi as she moves like a fireball with a series of jump kicks, spin kicks, and punches with the help of a woman named Karine, who seems to be a professional trainer.

The former correspondent on The Daily Show with the legendary Jon Stewart, (we will miss Jon!), captioned the badass clip:

The French woman in the video, a mom of two, reposted the clip with the epic #ninja and shut down the doubters with #realspeed.

The actress did not say it, but many believe that Olivia Munn might be going through extensive training for her upcoming roles in X-Men: Apocalypse or even Ride Along 2.

Despite her very hectic schedule, Munn found time to grace the cover of the August issue of Good Housekeeping where she explained why she picked up tae kwon do.

Believe it or not, she started tae kwon do after talking with a hypnotist, who told her that it would help with her depression. She said:

“I was going to a hypnotist to help me with my OCD and trichotillomania. One day I told him I didn’t work out, and he said, ‘What do you mean?’ I replied, ‘I don’t know. I just kind of don’t. I yo-yo.’ He said, ‘You have to! It’s good for your anxiety and depression.’ So during one of our sessions, he hypnotized me.”

Munn added:

“I’m not exaggerating: That was on a Friday, and by Monday I was working out every day at 6 a.m. If I missed a session, I’d double up and do it the next day. Now I feel so much stronger. I remember running up the steps one day and thinking, This is strange. I could do this a hundred times and be totally OK.”

In the same interview, Munn explained that her boyfriend, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who eats healthy and works out often, has inspired her to do the same. Munn also confessed that she and all her siblings have black belts in karate.
