Nurse Jackie Ending

Nurse Jackie is ending after 7 seasons. Via Twitter, Showtime announced on Wednesday that in a very near future, fans will have to say goodbye to Nurse Jackie.

The Tweet included a picture of the cast at the table read for season 7, holding three signs that revealed that Edie Falco’s Nurse Jackie is ending next year.

The medical drama, which was created by Liz Brixius, Linda Wallem, and Evan Dunsky focused on Jackie Peyton, a nurse who was popping more pills than her patients – but you have to understand the loveable mad woman, her personal life was pure chaos.

The hit series that debuted in 2009 also starred Eve Best and Anna Deavere Smith. While there is no specific date set for the series finale, it is certain that Nurse Jackie will be canceled in 2015.

David Nevins, Showtime President issued a statement where he explained that the network was thrilled to collaborate with Edie Falco who won an Emmy for her performance. Nevins praised the woman who brilliantly portrayed a funny drug-addicted medical professional.

“Edie is one of our finest actresses. We are so honored to have had her on the network. She creates indelible characters and Nurse Jackie Peyton is no exception. I know this final season will bring her story to a close that will satisfy the ever-growing number of loyal viewers who have been entranced and, at times, appalled by Jackie through the years.”

Nevins went on to thank the rest of the cast for delivering season after season.

“I want to thank Edie, the incredible cast of Nurse Jackie and Clyde Phillips and Richie Jackson who have led the show to the success that it is today.”

The upcoming seventh season of the series will include some major changes, a fan favorite will no longer be present while an Emmy winner will be coming on board to contribute to the madness at the fictive All Saints’ Hospital in New York City.

Tony Shalhoub will portray ER doctor Bernard Prince, while original cast member Peter Facinelli is no longer part of the series.

So when will Nurse Jackie end? While production has began, Showtime said that they have no dates for the last season and therefore can not speculate on when the finale will air.
