New Zealand Teens Rescued After 50 Days
New Zealand Teens Rescued After 50 Days – In a very unexpected recent turn, three teenagers Filo Filo, 15, and his cousins, Etueni Nasau, 14, and Samu Pelesa, 15 – who were presumed dead and even had a memorial service held in their honor were found alive by someone off the cost of New Zealand in a fishing boat.
The three teens consisted of several 15 year old boys and one 14 year old girl. Their disappearance came after they tried to row around two islands near New Zealand in the beginning of October, but after weeks of searching and finding nothing they were thought to be dead. The search consisted of strenuous efforts by New Zealand’s air force, sweeping the entire area looking for the missing teenagers who were caught out at sea for a number of weeks before finally being located.
They had drifted around 800 miles from where they originally were northeast of Fiji. It was actually a crew on a tuna boat that spotted the teenagers who were barely hanging on for life and overjoyed to see anyone in weeks.
When they were found, all of them were extremely appreciate of the crew that had located them, thanking them over and over for stopping. If the crew on the tuna boat had not seen them, it was likely that they would have eventually died from starvation.
