Nathan Fillion And Stana Katic: ‘Castle’ Actress May Not Return For Season 8, Fillion Signed New Deal

Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic have played a key role in the success of ABC’s hit show Castle, but one of the famous actors seems to be on the way out. Season 7 of Castle is close to an end, but a big cloud is surrounding the future of the TV series.

Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic have carried Castle for over six years, but things are apparently headed in a different direction for Season 8.

Although the crime drama has not yet been renewed, experts believe that it will not get canceled since the ratings are considered just good enough for an old program like this one.

On Thursday, it was announced that Nathan Fillion had already signed on for the next season, but his partner in crime Stana Katic is still negotiating. Katic, who plays Kate Beckett on Castle, is said to be in no rush to sign a new contract.

The 36-year-old Canadian-American actress is checking the different options that are currently available to her, but money is not her primary focus. In November 2014, Katic told TVLine:

“If the character is complete, if there is nowhere else to go creatively, then I think it’s better to stop when you’re on top…. [F]or me it’s about art over finance, and as long as we’re creating something that is compelling and that has somewhere to go, then we’re good to go. And when we find that we’re not… then it’s time for everyone to pack up and move onto the next thing.”

This statement is now taking a whole new meaning after it was revealed that showrunner David Amann was leaving his job as the top creative person on the program. A replacement is expected to be named in the upcoming weeks, but it will not be Andrew Marlowe, the show creator, who left the same post in June 2014. A small dip in viewership this year might have contributed to the exit.

Castle fans on social media are begging Katic not to leave the show.

Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic are now filming the last episode of Season 7, and it will air on May 11.

What are your thoughts on Katic potentially leaving Castle?

I totally agree. If Stana leaves the show it will be over for me. I have been an fan since the beginning. Please finish out the series.

If Kate leaves the whole dynamics of the program will change and I will change channels. Kate, ( Stana Katic ) please stay. Although Nathan Fillion is a great actor, you Kate, are so much more. We need your beauty, wit, talent, and Castle-Kate mingling of character and soul-mate relationship, that is portrayed currently. So, please meditate deeply on the notion to stay. Thank you!

I would like to see Stana Katic sign for at least one year. Let the show wrap up the story line properly.

You are the NICK AND NORA of this time period. I have followed Nathan since his “soap opera” days. Please Stana…sigh on. Love you both.

The cast and crew are wonderful on this show, however the 2 main characters are what and who carry this show. Did you noticed how it was when Castle was missing the show was ok but not great like it is when both Kate and Castle are on. When one leaves for good the show will end, makes no difference who it would be the show will end. That will be very disappointing as this one of the best shows on TV.

I feel pretty much the opposite from most of the respondents. Nathan Fillion is a good comedic actor and Stana Katic pretty dull. No accounting for taste, in either direction. Just is. And the show is an iffy proposition at best.
