Mike Rowe Claims He ‘Didn’t Rob Bank’ In Oregon After Photos Of Look-Alike Go Viral

A Mike Rowe look-alike has landed the Dirty Jobs host in a funny situation with Oregon police. The Rowe doppelgänger was caught on camera robbing a bank, and his picture went viral, forcing the real Rowe to share a post on Facebook to say he is innocent.

Mike Rowe

Mike Rowe, a baseball cap and a hoodie – these things go hand in hand – and they are the reason the Medford Police Department in Oregon issued an arrest warrant for the TV star. On Monday, the Medford Police Department’s Facebook page lit up after pictures of a suspected bank robber were posted.

The photos showed a man in a khaki baseball cap and grey hoodie, stealing money from a Chase Bank using a gun to scare off the tellers. The authorities were flooded with tips that all said the same thing – the criminal in the pictures was none other than Rowe from the hit series Dirty Jobs on the Discovery Channel.

The Medford Police Department was forced to take action, immediately and jokingly issued an arrest warrant for the TV host. In a post that has since gone viral, the police stated:

“Good morning folks. First off, we appreciate all the tips on the bank robbery from yesterday. In fact, thanks to you guys, we issued an arrest warrant for Mike Rowe from the TV show, “Dirty Jobs.” But in the case its not him, keep your eye out and keep the tips coming.”

Rowe caught wind of the story and took to his own Facebook page to address any concerns. Mr. Rowe admitted that while he agrees that the thief looks like him, he was nowhere near Oregon the day of the robbery – he was in Kansas. Rowe wrote:

“True, I am often attired in a sweatshirt and ball cap, and yes, I do share a certain resemblance with the culprit. I’ve also been spotted in Medford on more than once occasion, (a lovely town by any standard.)”

He went on to suggest that the suspect could have been wearing a Mike Rowe mask. Just hours ago, the police gave an update explaining that they have not apprehended the actual bank robber, and they believe Rowe when he said he was in Kansas at the time of the robbery. The new post said:

“This just in, Mike Rowe from “Dirty Jobs” has been alibi’d in Monday’s bank robbery. This is a real bummer, but as we say, “Its just as important to free innocent people from suspicion as to identify guilty parties.” Back to the drawing board, we are now looking for a suspect wearing a Mike Rowe mask, which is brilliant, why didn’t we think of that?”

The Mike Rowe faux robbery story has birthed countless funny remarks on social media like:

“Well, bank robbery is probably a pretty dirty job, so Mike Rowe is the one in the pictures or maybe it’s his twin brother.”

“Mike Rowe was with me all day, showing me how to do lots of dirty things.”

“I can tell that isn’t Mike Rowe because Mikes is better looking and has better and fitter butt.”

“Free Mike Rowe! Free Mike Rowe!”

What are your thoughts on Mike Rowe’s bank robbery “situation?”
