Michelle Obama Gorilla Comment:Rusty DePass – Rusty DePass who is a South Carolina GOP activist and who is famous for writing a piece called “Do Republicans have higher moral standards than Democrats?” to impeach President Bill Clinton has written on his Facebook page that a gorilla that escaped from a zoo was an “ancestor” of Michelle Obama.After FITSNews revealed DePass’s comment ,the politician apologized saying:

DePass worked for Rudy Giuliani’s presidential 2008 campaign.

I just don’t get the ‘racist’ angle. Just because Michelle is black is everything you could say that disparages her ‘racist’? She’s a public political figure and those on the opposite side of the aisle are going to make unflattering observations about her. But is it necessarily racist?
GW Bush’s snarled up nose and smirk reminded lots of people of a possum. I heard the observation made occasionally and tacitly agreed with it. But it never occurred to me it might be racist. Michelle’s looks just don’t remind me of a gorilla. And I’m not saying she’s attractive. She certainly isn’t. But Bush certainly more resembled a possum than Michelle resembles a gorilla.
