Mermaids The New Evidence

On Sunday, May 26, Animal Planet aired the follow up to their 2012 “Mermaids: The Body Found called “Mermaids: The New Evidence” which drew record ratings.

The special which was a hoax, yes it was all fake collected over 3.6 million viewers (the network’s most popular special was “Dragons: A Fantasy Made Real” which was broadcast in 2005 and grabbed 2.8 million eyeballs.)

“Mermaids: The New Evidence” which aired with a disclaimer explaining that events being shown were fictional – revealed the mythical creatures swimming in the Greenland Sea while biologist Dr. Paul Robertson appeared on the studio to talk about his latest discoveries.

While the special was fake – it sure captivated many.
