I didn’t like any of the contestants this season. However, by the end of the show, I favored Melissa. Congratulations to her :)

    2. michael coe says:

well congrats to mellisa for winning, however I think jeff was the better choice. You have three or four shows with succesful female chefs which I enjoy watching. They all cook from home and usually do it on the fly as they all work and have families to feed. I was excited about jeff’s ideas and looked forward to his show. I will remain a fan of your network but won’t be anxious to see melissa’s new show :(

    3. Kiera says:

Even though Melissa has a great personality and can cook with the ret of them…in my opinion she’ll end up being one of the ‘day time shows’ that I’ll never see or remember. Jeffery’s demo made me excited to watch his next show on Food Network Nighttime. It kind of reminded me of “Iron Chef” meets “Good Eats”, secret ingredient and applicable info…can’t beat that.

    4. Kat says:

Absolutely cannot stand Melissa. I can’t believe that they picked her over Jeffrey. I would never watch her show because her mannerisms are tense and jerky. She makes me strain to watch her. Jeffry would have been someone I would have watched. He is easy going and just looks like someone you would be comfortable in the kitchen with. Melissa reminds me of one of those women that when they get tense, start yelling. She is just another of the many women cooks added to the Food Network that I won’t watch. What were they thinking???????

    5. Union Tom says:

I think everyone I know expected her to win

    6. Nicc says:

I have been watching this show since the beginning and I have to say I am shocked at the judges choice. I find Melissa to be slightly annoying and her descriptions of food aren’t what I would expect from a TV host. I WILL NOT be watching her show and hope the ratings aren’t that good so that they can put Jeffrey on, now there’s a good cook.

    7. Virginia A. Powers says:

My opinion? Melissa is the most annoying personality and I shall not watch her..she makes nothing but chicken breasts or fish. She is more than self-centered, a braggart and has no reason to be. Just because she has four children does not make her an interesting personality. It proves the show is just that, a pre-written act. Sorry!

      • alexandra bernier says:

I agreed, I can’tt belive they took Melissa, I think bobby flay is jealouse of jeffrey, melissa is low profile and the other chefs are not going bother by her. however jeffrey is a star and some chefs would have been jealouse if he won so they chose this study melissa, I willnot watch her show.

      • Brenda says:

Why don’t you try watching the show when it comes back on in Jan. before refusing to watch her. She definately makes more than chicken and fish, but how would you know that without watching the show. How would you know that her show is a pre-written act if you won’t watch it? Your loss anyway.

      Hi,

Just wanted to let you know that I am disappointed that Jeffrey won’t be joining your network. I really enjoyed his demonstrations, and think that “Ingredient Smuggler” was such a good idea – there are already many women cooking in the kitchen shows, and the title of ingredient smuggler was so enticing, and i loved the idea of learning to cook with something unusual and maybe a little exotic. I was really looking forward to watching his show – and am going to have to be convinced that Melissa has something to offer that has not already been almost done to death. I have watched rachel ray, giada, ina, paula, robin – and feel that melissa’s show is just another mommy-type cooking in the kitchen, but to have something as unusual as a show that showcases other countries cooking and ingredients – now that is something that i would come home to watch. i also loved watching him cook with his family, it made me feel warm and it felt like a real, loving family, while watching melissa cook with her babies made me a little nervous. sorry, but i feel you made the wrong decision.

just needed to air my opinion – love your network and all the effort everyone puts in to make us, the viewers, feel like family. thanks so much for all your effort and education.

    9. Wyvette Elliott says:

I am thrilled Melissa won. I equally like Jeffery, but most of us home cooks wouldn’t have access to his spices. I think Melissa is energetic and has a wonderful attitude. Seems very bright and I think a lot Moms will learn a lot from her and I think she is awesome.

      • Richard Fiumara says:

        I agree with Wyvette.
if you live in NYC, I’m sure you could find specialty grocery store that would carry the eexotic ingredients that Jeffry would introduce us to.
Since I do most of the cooking, melissa’s recipes would be more sited to what I would have on hand or could get easily at the supermarket.
Most of the viewers are not gourmet cooks. We need practical solutions to making meals.
Congratulations to Melissa. I think you will be a big hit!!

        • Brenda says:

Thank you. I also agree with Wyvette. You can’t find the spices he used most places. I have tried most os the recipies that Melissa made and they are simple and great. I also love the yips that she gives us on each show.

Jeffrey was a much better choice than Melissa. I saw every one of these shows and Jeffrey was a much more likable guy and for some reason to me Melissa is just hard to watch…she’s too perky and smiley…kinda nauseating, really…Jeffrey seems like a really good guy, down to earth, easier to relate to, and I would have been much more interested in seeing his out-of-the-ordinary spices and ingredients instead of seeing some kind of chicken recipe made with a bunch of stuff you can get at Wal-Mart. There are enough “stay at home mom” types doing cooking shows, there needs to be some variety and Melissa was a stupid choice, frankly. Jeffrey was the only guy on that show that never lost his cool at any point from what I saw, which is going to be a factor when working on a TV set like that. As seen in the pilots, you’re not gonna nail it the first time and being in control like that will make him a better employee of the network too. Melissa seems like the type that would get flustered after a few screw ups and that can be annoying to put up with. I don’t hate her and wish her any misfortune or anything dumb like that, but I much, much prefered Jeffrey.

    11. amy McCall says:

I will NOT watch her show! She seems like a know it all, fake, two faced soccor mom. Her show won’t last and Jeffrey should have won by far.

    12. alexandra dubois says:

I can’t belive they choose melissa, ..i think other chefs are jealouse of Jeffrey and they would have been jealouse of him if he had won this show. specially bobby flay he loves melissa because she is not a competitor for him but Jeffrey yes he is a competitor for him. i will not watch this stupid melissa…I am piss

    13. Joe says:

Definitely shocked that Jeffery didn’t win. I liked them both, but was excited about watching Ingredient Smuggler – what a fantastic idea. With a show like that I thought I’d actually learn new things about cooking.

Melissa only brings more of the same home cooking that’s been done time and time again. I’ve had enough Rachel Ray style cooking.

I’m getting bored with all the Food Network shows and for the first time in a long time, was excited about a show. The last show to captivate me was Feasting on Waves and Feasting on Asphalt. Enough with the cookie cutter shows.

Having said this, I bet Food Network still signs Jeffery and does his show – I’m holding out hope. I mean, come on, Adam Gurgler lost and ended up with a craptastic show.

    14. Coco says:

Melissa is MORE than annoying. Stop talking about your children, we don’t care. I can not watch her, she is too perky and her teeth and flippy hair fill the screen.

      • Brenda says:

What’s wrong with talking about her children????? She is obviously proud of them and besides that, Paula Deen and some others talk about their kids all the time and no one criticizes her.
