The jackpot was originally set at $316 million jackpot, but it climbed after brisk sales. As always the individual or group will have the choice between a one-time payout or go home with the sum of $194 million minus taxes.

Three of those players won $1 million. The Californian will only be getting $597,933 because that state pays lottery prizes on a pari-mutuel basis. While another will collect $4 million because he or she decided to pick the Megaplier option.

Here what Lottery officials had to say about the Mega Millions results:

“Since Mega Millions changed exactly one year ago, there have been more than 205 million winning tickets sold for prizes at all levels, from $1 all the way up to the jackpot. In the past year, nine jackpots have been won, ranging from $20 million to a near-record $648 million, with a total of eleven winners (two jackpots were shared). There have been 174 Match 5 second-prize winners, most at the $1 million level; 11 of them won between $2 and $5 million because those tickets included the optional Megaplier purchase for an additional $1.”

The $321 million jackpot was the eighth biggest in the 12-year history of the Mega Millions and the 20th largest in U.S. lottery history. The Mega Millions produced no winners for 21 consecutive drawings.

The last time a person won was on August 22. An individual residing in Calimesa, California purchased a ticket worth $180 million at a 7-Eleven.

  1. Another New York ******* gets richer, while normal human beings must continue to work. May all New Yorkers die…

    1. Way to show how lowly and challenged you are. Yes all us new Yorkers are rich, and we look down on you working class scum. Shut it, get an education, and better yourself. Friggen schmuck.

    2. What an idiot you are. There are millions of people in NY. People move there so they can make a decent living. I was born there and proud of it. I moved to a much warmer climate. All the people in NY are not rich. They work just like everyone else. You are either stupid or jealous.

      1. He’s both stupid and jealous. Middletown is a middle-class suburb way north and west of NYC…..small town feel. While I wish it were me, I’m happy for the people who win and hope the money does good things in their lives. BTW tell someone living in New York who is being paid minimum wage that they are a “rich” New Yorker….see where that gets you.

  2. All New Yorkers are not rich. I am 66 years old and I worked since I was 16 years old. My only income is Social Security and If I can get an odd job here and there, I do. New Yorkers are not lazy and we work hard for what we have. I know people that work at more than one job to make ends meet. It is not easy living here. We have high taxes and unless you ever lived here, you need to keep your opinions to yourself.
