Christmas miracles do occur! Maria das Dores da Conceicao was pronounced dead on Wednesday, December 22. Two days later, on Christmas Eve, she woke up terrified in her coffin.

The woman was 88-years-old with a long medical history. She had a history of hypertension and vascular disease. She also had Alzheimer’s disease, which led to dementia. In November, the 88-year-old had to have part of her leg amputated, thus weakening her condition further.

She was pronounced dead at a city hospital in Ipatinga, Minas Gerais. Minas Gerais is a state in eastern Brazil. She was then taken to a mortuary. Before the morticians could carry out their duties in preparation for her burial, they noticed her breathing and moving around in the coffin.

She was quickly rushed back to intensive care. She was taken back to the same hospital that had pronounced her dead two days earlier.

One of her grandchildren told The Daily Mail that her grandmother was still alive, when the hearse pulled up to the hospital. Her daughter stated that their family is very unhappy with the lack of respect shown to her mother.

The police will carry out an investigation to see why da Conceicao was pronounced dead in the first place.

Update: Maria das Dores da Conceicao’s death was just reported, she died in the same intensive care unit.
