Madonna Prisoner: Guy Ritchie Marriage Made Madonna Feel Like ‘A Prisoner,’ Singer Tells All

Madonna was a prisoner as Guy Ritchie’s wife – which is why she divorced him and went back to wearing risqué outfits and dating younger men. In a new interview with The Sun, the Queen of Pop revealed that she felt like a prisoner during her 8-year-marriage to the British film director.

Was Madonna, Guy Ritchie‘s prisoner? According to the mega pop star, the answer is yes. “La Isla Bonita” singer Madonna has always been a very liberated woman, who shocked the public with her image and lyrics, so it was very surprising to hear her say that a man once tamed or mentally imprisoned her.

Earlier this week, the “Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend” artist, who is currently promoting her latest album entitled Rebel Heart, sat down with The Sun for a lengthy interview.

Queen Madonna confessed that while she was married to British filmaker Guy Ritchie she felt like a prisoner. The diva who has a biological teenage son named Rocco and two adopted children – David, nine, and Mercy, five – with Guy Ritchie revealed that as an artist, she was not allowed to express herself.

The 56-year-old singer told the British publication that she was unable to pursue some artistic visions that she had during her second marriage, because her spouse did not feel comfortable with them.

The mother of four confessed:

“I did find myself sometimes in a state of conflict. There were many times when I wanted to express myself as an artist in ways that I don’t think my ex-husband felt comfortable with… There were times when I felt incarcerated. I wasn’t really allowed to be myself.”

Madonna went on to reveal that she does not regret marrying Guy Ritchie and has understood that in a relationship, compromises need to be made. The star said:

“I think when you get married you have to be willing to make a lot of compromises and that’s fair enough. I think that’s the way it goes in relationships.”

After divorcing Guy Ritchie, Madonna ditched her conservative look for her scandalous, barely-there attires, started flashing fans on stage, on the red carpet and during television appearances.

She also went back to her old cougar ways by dating 20-something models like Brahim Zaibat and Timor Steffans. In the interview, she explained that she does not understand why people slam her and accept the fact that Mick Jagger can be with young women. She stated:

“It’s OK if Mick Jagger dates a 25-year-old girl but if I date a 25-year-old man I’m, you know… it’s ridiculous. It’s so unfair, I mean, I don’t get it.”

She also blasts the critics, who think that she is too old to be as sexy as she is. She stated:

“You’re still categorized—you’re still either a virgin or a whore. If you’re a certain age, you’re not allowed to express your sexuality, be single, or date younger men.”

The actress also said that sometimes she feels that gay men understand her better than straight men do. Madonna revealed:

“I didn’t feel like straight men understood me. They just wanted to have sex with me. Gay men understood me, and I felt comfortable around them. There was only that one problem, which is that they didn’t want to have sex with me!”

  1. Nothing revelatory here. Of course any woman becomes a prisoner of sorts when she marries. Of course she is not free to “Express Yourself.” Of course her artistitic expression is quelled (to say the least).

Any woman—including Madonna Ciccionne—is going to be hampered by these constrictions in a marriage whether she realizes or acknowledges it or not. Madonna realized it and made the choice to take those inalienable self rights back when she divorced Ritchie.

  2. Oh, puh-lease! This old hag will do and say anything to remain in the spotlight. She’s a fame-ho, end of story.
