Jay Leno Retirement Date Is Set, Says Reports
Jay Leno is being forced into retirement according to several sources close to the television host.
It is being speculated that in 2014 when Jay Leno’s contract is up – he will be asked by NBC to leave his post on the Late Show and he will be replaced by Jimmy Fallon.
The Hollywood Reporter claims that the reason why Jay Leno is being dumped is because the network believes that ABC’s recent decision to give Jimmy Kimmel the 11:35 time slot will take the young viewers away from them.
NBC (is additionally happy to get Fallon because his contract will cost the network less than $20 Million a year) is betting on Jimmy Fallon to grab some of the young eyeballs from Jimmy Kimmel.
David Letterman’s contract will also be up in 2014 and there is a possibility that CBS might be looking for a fresh face to appeal to the 18-49.
Let us hope that Jay Leno’s 2014 retirement does not look like the 2009 fiasco when he was given the boot and replaced by Conan O’Brien who was later fired and Leno was rehired.
