Lauren Bacall‘s home might be sold for $26 Million. Later this month, the Manhattan home, which belonged to the late Lauren Bacall will hit the market.

While it was first predicted that it would go for $10 Million, Warburg Realty has confirmed that it will be listed at $26 Million. Bacall passed away in New York City in August at the age of 89.

The home being sold is located in The Dakota (also known as Dakota Apartments), situated on the northwest corner of 72nd Street and Central Park West in the Upper West Side of Manhattan in New York City.

The 93-unit landmark building was built between 1880 and 1884, and is known as the home of former Beatle John Lennon from 1973 to 1980 with wife, Yoko Ono, as well as the location of his murder.

Yoko Ono, still has several apartments in the building. The Dakota is considered to be one of Manhattan’s most prestigious and exclusive cooperative residential buildings, with apartments generally selling for between $4 million and $30 million.

Famous people like Boris Karloff, Judy Holliday, Roberta Flack, Judy Garland and Gilda Radner have resided in The Dakota.

The building is also notorious for rejecting stars like Madonna, Alex Rodriquez, Judd Apatow, Cher, Melanie Griffith and Antonio Banderas over the years.

The $26 Million price tag on the apartment Lauren Bacall called home is even more shocking, when you discover that she only paid $48,000 for it. Bacall purchased the unit in 1961 with husband Jason Robards.

The couple divorced in 1969 and Bacall continued to live in the apartment until she died. Details about Lauren Bacall’s $26 Million home such as its size and floor have remained secret due to the building’s strict rules.

But few sources have revealed that the apartment’s park-facing frontage spans approximately 100 feet, and it has seven fireplaces. Bacall’s unit features huge windows that overlook Central Park.

It is described as grand with numerous original details. Bacall’s three children, Leslie Bogart, Sam Robards and Stephen Bogart, have decided to sell the artwork and furnishings in the the home.

The Bacall Collection, which is worth over $3 million will be auctioned off later this month and in March by Bonham’s auction house in New York City.

Bacall possessed pieces from Pablo Picasso, Joan Miro and Alexander Calder and a large collection of African Art.
