Kim Zolciak-Biermann confessed to having a mini-stroke while posting a selfie from her hospital bed. In an Instagram post, Mrs. Zolciak-Biermann, who has been competing on Dancing With the Stars, claimed that she lost her speech, and half of her body became paralyzed during the incident.
Kim Zolciak-Biermann suffered a mini-stroke, better known as Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA), and found a way to post a selfie while in the hospital – a move, which has angered many of her fans.
On Tuesday, Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kim Zolciak-Biermann shared a shocking picture of herself from a hospital bed where she is wired up. The Don’t Be Tardy star used the caption to reveal to her almost 2 million followers that moments after landing in Atlanta from Los Angeles, she fell ill.
The 36-year-old mother of six is a contestant on this season’s Dancing With the Stars. She has been flying back in forth between California (rehearsing and competition) and Georgia to see her family and film the reality series.
According to the country artist, the constant traveling has taken a toll on her body, which has undergone countless plastic surgeries. Accompanying the hospital bed selfie was the following explanation:
“The last 24hrs have been whirlwind! I landed yesterday morning from LAX (took the red eye right after DWTS) I got home and within minutes suffered a TIA (mini stroke) the left side of my body went completely numb and my speech was gone.”
According to experts, a mini-stroke occurs when “blood flow to part of the brain is blocked or reduced” most of the time due to a blood clot.
While dangerous and scary, the symptoms, which include vision loss, confusion, difficulty walking, speaking and understanding simple words, do not last long (less than 20 minutes). She went on to say that she has fully recovered from the health scare:
“I have 100%of my feeling back THANK GOD. Still in the hospital but I just know I’m getting released today!”
Prior to the mini-stroke selfie, Kim Zolciak-Biermann was on Instagram promoting teeth-whitening products and explaining that she went to see Kim Kardashian‘s cosmetic dermatologist, Dr. Simon Ourian, for botox injections. She wrote:
“lasts for just 24 hours. These attacks do not generally cause any brain damage, though they can be indicators and warning signs that the individual will suffer an actual stroke in the future. I’m so happy to be home with my babies!! Although I’m having a blast on DWTS I took the red eye soooo I’m delirious but I forgot my @expresssmileatlanta teeth whitening kit when I was in LA so a quick touch up and then GOODNIGHT!! She also added:

Some of her fans are sending her well wishes. However, other commenters are baffled or amused by the fact that as she was battling health issues she was posting on social media to make sure she stays in the spotlight.
