An adorable dog named Kai, finds a home and the story makes headlines, according to The Inquisitr. It is impossible to forget the pictures that surfaced on January 2nd, showing Kai, a shar-pei crossbreed on a leash after being abandoned at Ayr Railway Station in Scotland.

The former owner left a suitcase near the dog, which contained his belongings. The photos of the sad dog went viral and the Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals immediately came to the rescue.

Hundreds of people contacted the Scottish SPCA to adopt Kai. Earlier today, the headline “Kai finds a home” started trending after a man by the name of Ian Russell, revealed to local media that he was selected to be the animal’s new owner.

Ian Russell, who is a self-employed hydraulic engineer from Newton Mearns, said that he feels lucky to have Kai in his life. Around Christmas, Russell’s dog, a Dalmatian named Mica died, so when he heard about what happened to Kai, he called the shelter just to help. The engineer, who never thought he would get Kai, said:

“I called the Scottish SPCA just to check he was okay and see if there was anything I could do to help. Fast forward a few weeks and here I am taking him home. I honestly think it was meant to be.”

As he did with Mica, he plans to travel all over Scotland with Kai when he is working. The happy owner shared:

“I work all over Scotland, mainly outdoors, driving wherever I’m needed in my van. Kai will come with me and when it’s appropriate I’ll let him out to run around and play safely while I work. Then we’ll jump back into the van together and head to the next place. We’ll be able to hang out all the time.”

Alan Grant, of the Scottish SPCA, revealed that people in New York, Los Angeles, France, Spain and the Philippines tried to adopt Kai. Grant also gave the reason why they selected Ian Russell as the new owner by saying:

“One of the reasons we chose Ian was, right from the start he said he was interested in rehoming Kai but he would take our advice if we thought one of the many other dogs in our care would suit him better.”

Fin Rayner, the woman who abandoned Kai, said that she was supposed to meet the owner at the train station to purchase the dog after seeing an ad on the internet. When she realized that the picture did not correspond to the real dog, she refused to purchase the animal, but the owner had already left without a word.

Due to the fact she had a train to catch with her young daughter, she left the dog at the train station, hoping volunteers from a shelter would rescue him. Kai finds a home and a viral news story finds its happy ending. What say you?
