Julia Roberts Emmy gown that was designed by Elie Saab, turned heads last night. Roberts decided to paint the red carpet of the 2014 Emmy Awards blue.
The actress arrived at the event, which was held at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles, in a short gown embezzled with pearls and precious stones. She was nominated in the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie category for her performance as Dr. Emma Brookner in HBO’s The Normal Heart. Roberts did not win, the coveted award went to Kathy Bates for her work on FX’s American Horror Story: Coven.
Roberts’ dress, which has been been tailored, is fresh off Elie Saab Couture’s runway (see picture of the original dress with a more risqué neckline below).
The dark blue gown featured a daring neckline that revealed a fair amount of cleavage without going overboard. The Saab creation highlighted Roberts long and toned legs.
The long sleeves and the peplum design of the dress made it age appropriate for the 46-year-old mother of three.
To complete the look, Julia Fiona Roberts and her glam team selected navy peep-toe pumps by Christian Louboutin, brown diamond earrings from Wilfredo Rosado, which matched her beautiful hazel eyes.
Mrs Daniel Moder also wore a cocktail opal ring by Irene Neuwirth. The Mona Lisa Smile actress was praised by a majority of fashion critics who found her look, young and radiant.
But Booth Moore was not impressed by Roberts’ gown. Moore who is a famous fashion critic for the Los Angeles Times opted to put the Oscar winning actress among the worst dressed stars at the award show.
That list included Lena Dunham and Kristen Wiig. So, what was wrong with Julia Roberts’ gown?
According to the fashion expert, it was too heavy and had too many details.
Moore also stated that the above the knee cut was wrong, it should have been a full length gown for such event.

The earrings were Fancy Intense Yellow 28 carats total weight by Scarselli Diamonds through Wilfredo Rosado.
Julia Roberts always looks great but the dress looks like it is something a teenager would wear to a formal party.
