Jennifer Connelly Lost 25 Pounds For ‘Shelter’ Movie

Jennifer Connelly’s 25-pound weight loss will be revealed in her upcoming movie Shelter. Not only did she shed 25 pounds from her already tiny frame for the role, Connelly also spent days talking to drug addicts, homeless people and learned how to use syringes.

Jennifer Connelly 25-pound weight loss is making headlines. In a new interview with Contact Music, Connelly has confessed to dropping 25 pounds from her already small frame for the lead female role in her new film Shelter.

Shelter, which tells the story of a homeless couple on the streets of New York, is directed by Connelly’s husband Paul Bettany, he was supposed to also star in the flick, but removed himself to stay behind the camera.

In the forthcoming movie, Connelly takes on the role of a homeless and drug addict by the name of Hannah. The talented actress explained that in order to look the part, she dropped a total of 25 pounds over several months.

To make sure she really understood the character, the star of A Beautiful Mind did some serious research via the New York needle exchange program.

Connelly spent some time with drug addicts and health experts where she learned how use needles and other drug paraphernalia. The dedicated actress confessed that she spent hours talking to drug users who shared stories with her. Jennifer Connelly said:

“I had a lot of practical research to do. Slowly, over months, a lost a lot of weight and ultimately lost about 25 pounds. I wanted to be quite comfortable with her and I had no experience using needles, so I spent a lot of time working on that so I could be quite at ease; practicing using the paraphernalia.”

According to reports, Connelly may have ben too invested in the film. Connelly, a mother of three and Oscar winner kept some of the needles given to her by the New York needle exchange program and decided to use them on the set.

Connelly refused to use the props and plunged real syringes on her arm, drew blood and shocked those on the set.

Shelter might bring another Oscar for the brilliant Jennifer Connelly.
